How's the performance these days?

I've been keeping track of Empyrion for some time now, and I am aware that being in Alpha means performance of the game will be less-than-stellar until it gets closer to being finished. I did notice that there was a performance patch somewhat recently, and while I am eager to buy the game and play around with what it has so far, I am still not very confident in my computer's ability to handle it.
