I could finally test my CV, after I worked out why my SV wasn't docking to it. I looked at the star map (system map?) and chose the Alien Outpost, as it sounded like some "dangerous space station" (I had never left Akua/Omicron before).
My CV has 34 Artillery and 16 Minigun turrets.
I found the Outpost, and the battle was over quickly (would have been even quicker, if the turrets hadn't suddenly decided to have a break). But in the end, there was little left for me to even loot. So yeah,...
