Any way to extend the max block distance?

I can understand that, in MP, the block distance is set up to prevent players building bases too large and preventing others building near them. Also it stops players making long tunnels under where other players want to put bases.

However, in SP and on some PVE servers, it would be nice to have a link up, even if it meant a few steps beyond your last block to actually enter the other base.

For example, I have a base with a shuttle under it but I want to use it to get to a POI that I took...

Any way to extend the max block distance?
