Cargo Boxes should not use power

I don't understand why cargo boxes use power when in a ship or base that is powered. Because, honestly, they're just storage boxes - why would they need power, even if it's only 1kW? Not only that but they don't actually need power to use them, they work normally whether powered or not.

To me this is very unrealistic. I don't see any harm or lack of realism in allowing limitless numbers of cargo boxes to be placed without any fuel usage.
